greyed out boxes/possible lost pics in Notes

(1) Only greyed out boxes are showed in Notes in icloud account instead of pics

(2) most pics are gone after I restored Notes to my mac from icloud

Please help!

iCloud Notes not updating Notes in Ventura or in iOS don't appear in iCloud Notes. No system I'm logged into, iPadOS or even Monterey, will update iCloud, and consequently nothing syncs across platforms. Notes are switched on in Apple ID iCloud on all devices. System Status is Ok. The last note that appeared iCloud was on Nov 30. Other iCloud systems, Mail and Calendar, are all still syncing. The problem seems to be only in Notes. Does anyone know how to overcome this? Is there some switch for iCloud to sync aside from those on the various platforms? It's a huge problem for me if Notes doesn't sync. Thanks very much for any assistance.

Notes Quitting Unexpectedly iMac 27" late 2014, macOS Big Sur 11.7.2. I always keep my system software and apps updated to the latest revision. Notes is version 4.8.1 (1872). Recently, within the last couple of months, any time I have Notes open at the same time as I'm using Safari or Mail, it will always close suddenly after being open for a few minutes. I do have a large number of notes saved, many with photos embedded, but I've been using Notes in this way for quite a long time (years) without any difficulties. My iMac has plenty of RAM (32 GB) and storage is not full (> 50GB available). Each time it displays the problem report and says that it will be sent to Apple immediately when I reopen Notes. Notes is working fine other than this frequent application crash which does not seem to cause any loss of data. I use Malwarebytes to check my system for Malware and have occasionally had it identify and quarantine malware that it finds, but since this problem with Notes has started occurring I've had a few Malwares identified and removed and it has not made a difference. Any suggestions on what may be causing this and what I could do to troubleshoot or repair the problem?

If the Notes appear to be correct at iCloud.com/Notes using a computer browser, try going to System Preferences/iCloud (Apple ID for Catalina) and stop Notes syncing by unchecking the box. Wait a couple of minutes, then check syncing. Allow time for the sync to complete.

Last resort - have you tried signing out of iCloud and then sign back in?

I've tried as you have suggested. No use. Pics in some notes showed up but not all notes. Luckily, the notes contained unimportant info so I will just let them be. Just want to say thanks for replying!
