Apple Clearance Merchandise. New or Used?

Contact Apple Support:

Apple is likely upgrading to a new model. I do not see why they (Apple) would sell a used item, yet not inform their customers of doing so But, if you must know, then contact Apple. This is a user-to-user forum. We are all Apple users like you. No one here works for Apple.

Setting Up the Chat Session:

2. Scroll Down to "Tell us how we can help"
3. Select: Get Support

The short version: Anything listed as a clearance item is new. Anything listed as refurbished is just that.

Are you using the “refurbished and clearance” store link in the small print at the bottom of https://www.apple.com/ ?

If so, all products there are OEM factory refurbished, with full one year warranty and eligible for AplleCare+. From that page if you tap “clearance” your looking at new and unopened products.

But if you click on the Clearance tab all products there are new and are not factory refurbished which is what the OP asked. The only item on clearance at this time is the iPhone 7 Plus Jet Black with 128GB.

That is the one I was referring to in the post just above yours. It will be a new device. But to me. that is a lot to pay for a 5 generation old device.

Since it is the unlocked version it should but I would check with Verizon to make sure they will accept it as a carry in phone prior to buying it.
