We could not complete your purchase - cancelled

I've just installed a brand new MacBook Air with my account and started to get the following errors in AppStore by downloading any application I want.

Please advice on how to proceed. I basically can't use my Mac without AppStore.

I managed to get it to work on my machine finally. I wound up first resetting my password on my Apple ID, and then logged back in to the app store and iTunes. No luck. After that I went to ~/Library/Cookies and deleted everything. Probably overkill. Documentation I've seen says to just delete com.apple.appstore.plist and Cookies.plist . Then I went into the Caches directory and deleted the entire com.apple.appstore folder. (When in doubt, nuke the site from orbit.)

After a reboot I was asked to enter my password for my Apple ID again, and the purchase worked like a charm. I'm using Mojave 10.14.6 on a late 2013 iMac.

Started happening to me today. I'm on 10.14.6

I noticed an update in System Preferences --> Software Update. I ignore the Catalina upgrade but underneath it said "Supplemental Update" so I agreed and installed it. I come back to my laptop and Catalina is downloaded and ready to install. I clicked nothing of the sort and auto macOS updates are disabled. I closed the Catalina installer and deleted it.

Next thing I know, when I had two app updates using the App Store, they won't update. Same error as original post here except "purchase" is replaced with "update"

I deleted the app (CardHop) and tried to download it from the App Store. Same error, now the word "Purchase" is written.

I signed out of the App Store. Restarted the computer. Flushed DNS. Signed back in, same problem with any app I try to download or update.

When I go to System Information and check Software installations, I see the installed update but no title or version information listed as is visible in other updates.

This is the kind of stuff which really makes me believe Apple is sabotaging any operating system but the current one.

Same here... also on 10.14.6. and both of my Macs are affected (2015 MacBookPro, 2019 iMac).

The error started to occur yesterday evening for me and the wording of the message ist exactly as stated above - "We could not complete your purchase - cancelled". It appears when I try to update or re-download a previously purchased app.

A couple of thing I've tried so far - to no avail:

  • I deleted all caches related to Appstore (and restarted)
  • I deleted all plist files related to Appstore (and restarted)
  • I tried a different Apple ID
  • I restarted my router
  • I tried to access the Appstore via 2 different networks (to rule out an issue with my WIFI connection)

... any other ideas out there?

Btw: I did not attempt to download the Catalina update - or any update for that matter - so I am inclined to rule that out as well.

I have the same problem, also on 10.14.6.

I cannot get anything from the App Store, not even downloading items I purchased / installed previously. I get same error, "We could not complete your purchase." then "cancelled" , no matter what I click on.

However, I did not download the Catalina update or the supplemental one mentioned by biensur .

My most recent Apple updates were MRTConfigData and XProtectPlistConfigData on 5/15.

The last time I am sure I was able to use the App Store was on 5/4 . There were auto-updates for Adobe and MS Office since then and I installed AWS yesterday.

I think this is a legitimate bug on the App Store server side.
