4K Videos don't look 4K

Whenever I shoot a 4K video from my iPhone XS Max, they look decent on the iPhone's screen, however upon uploading them to my mac or even straight to YouTube from the device itself, the quality is lacking seriously. The video is VERY grainy, as well as somewhat blurry/hazy. Is the 4K video only meant to be shared among other iPhone users? Am I missing a setting that needs to be turned on/off? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

P.S. I did search for any similar articles and could not find any. If there is such an article that is out there, I'd gladly remove this post and check it out. Thanks!

I am using 4K at 60 FPS, I am using a Macbook Pro 16 inch from 2019, and yes, my photos and videos are synced. What I am getting at is, when I upload to youtube, I have all settings pointing to a 4K upload (as well as when I access the videos on my mac, the info of the video files are 4K resolution.) However, the quality is visibly not 4K.

I apologize for not including the information in the first post, I hadn’t thought of it. However I am here for help, not to be talked to condescendingly as if I should’ve know all the information that you would have needed right off the bat.

I am not aware what settings you have have made on YouTube for uploading. YouTube is not an Apple Product. Contact the app developer here --> App Support.

Record HD or 4K video with your iPhone or iPad

Learn how to set the Camera app to take high-quality videos.

You can use your iPhone or iPad to record video in high-quality formats — from 720p HD at 30 fps, all the way up to 4K at 60 fps, depending on the model of your device.

Use the Settings app to select a video format and frame rate:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap Camera, then tap Record Video.
  3. Select from the list of video formats and frame rates that your iPhone or iPad supports.

When you open the Camera app and select Video, the format that you've chosen (for example, "4K • 60") appears at the top of the screen.

If you have iCloud Photos turned on, your HD and 4K videos are stored in iCloud in their original formats at full resolution.
