Do you have to activate cellular on Apple Watch Series 5

I would like to purchase the stainless steal version of the Apple Watch Series 5, but I do not want the cellular part to be activated and this version only comes in GPS+ Cellular, is that possible? Will I get constant notifications to set it up?

You can use that watch without having to activate the cellular part of the watch,it will perform and function as if it was the GPS only version of the watch.

At a later date if you wanted to you could purchase a cellular plan for a monthly fee from your carrier as long as it one that supports the watch.
