Is the ipad Mini 1 bought at an Apple store locked to specific carrier -Verizon?

Hello: I bought my ipad mini 1 at an Apple Store and selected Verizon as my carrier. I used it on and off on Verizon over the years. My question is - was the ipad mini 1 sold at Apple stores locked to a specific domestic (US) carrier or can I insert another SIM card it in from another carrier?
