When I turn on Do Not Disturb I still get the sound notification for third part apps, like Slack and WhatsApp. Does anyone else experience this? I remember a time when this wasn't happening, but Apple must have changed the way it works. Is this a bug on Apple side or are Slack, etc... the offenders.

I'm experiencing the same issue! And I also cannot see the padlock in Notifications for advanced settings
Go to Apple menu -> System Preferences -> Notifications.
Hit the padlock and login as your login and password.
Scroll through each notification App, activate it and uncheck every type of notification that you don't want to receive, then put it under Do not disturb.
Thanks for the response! But I'm not sure I understand what you mean. Here's a screenshot of my Slack notifications settings. I don't see anything related to DnD.
