ipad Pro 10.5 Curve in screen

This time I’m gonna attach a photo because people think it’s a really BAD issue when my iPad looks totally fine to me....

I am unable to get fixed until stores open by the way.

So my iPad has had this curve for a while, is it due to overheating as I play a lot of heavy graphic games?

I don’t know the iPad recently has been crashing sometimes when I place it down on a surface.

And my headphones are static! Is this due to the curve? Can the curve be due to the case or battery needs replacing?

Overall I have taken good care of this iPad so there should be no problems.

Didn’t take very good care of this iPad, at all!

That whole corner looks like it is bent upwards.

There is a possibility you may have bent the Li-ion battery strip and maybe “tweaked” the internal 3.5mm headphone jack connection when the iPad bent.

The bend could could be causing some sort of connection issue, causing the iPad crashing, but excessive heat could be causing the iPad to crash, as well.

I think, for at least safety reasons with the Li-ion battery, you will need to replace this iPad Pro.

I suggest contacting/reaching out to Apple Product support and services.

Okay thank you.. then I’m better off just buying a new ipad lol

My iPad Air from 2014 has lasted longer than this one....... whoa.

Also, it seems to crash a lot when inside the case but when I take it out the case it’s just fine.

i don’t know what’s caused the bend it’s probably the overheating..... maybe the case too?

and yep I bought it in 2017 with 3 year guarantee, so why is apple trying to tell me it’s not under guarantee? 2017 — 2020 that’s 3 years YES but I bought the iPad in 2017 December so..... shouldn’t the guarantee last until this year December?

As SOON as stores reopen I am getting the iPad looked at by a technician. There’s nothing I can do right now as I don’t have the money. Surely it will be fine for another 3 months of soft use. No games.

How can I not take care of the iPad? I’ve kept it inside a case and I’ve never dropped it or sat on it!

I always keep it protected. Like you said, the bending is probably due to the battery—

The touchscreen and everything else works just fine! No cracks, scrapes or breaks in screen or frame. Except for frame surrounding the bend!

I don’t know what to do cause all the stores are closed..... and if it’s gonna cost a bomb to fix there’s really no point. I’ll have to save up and buy the next iPad.

AGAIN.... sorry for the questions.

But am I allowed to use this iPad until I am able to buy a new one?

I’m of course scared of it exploding and stuff but the device doesn’t feel hot to touch at all. Only hot when I’m on graphic games WHICH I’VE STOPPED USING GAMES NOW! Only problem is my adapter gets hot when charging but that’s normal. The device itself isn’t hot nor close to causing a fire or anything...

Can I still use? I charge it twice a day. I USED to charge it quite a lot and during playing games (screen time was like 13hrs). I hate to admit. But now I turn the iPad off and let it charge properly.

No.

The iPad got bent because of excessive heat causing the iPad’s aluminium case to bend and as a result, one of the internal Li-ion battery strips is most likely slightly bent, now!

The bend angle bothers me. It is enough to bother me, but not enough to make a definite safety decision, either way.

I would stop using this iPad for any activities that make it get very hot!

Keep the screen brightness as low as you can, but still able to see everything on the screen clearly enough.

I would only charge this iPad when you are present to watch it charge and DO NOT charge overnight while sleeping or unattended.

Only charge when you are present around or near the iPad in case something bad happens with the battery, and/or charging/power adapter block and/or charge cable OR all of the charging items.

If the bend gets any more severe than it is now, I would power down the iPad and cease using the device, at all and do not attempt to use OR charge up!

So Sorry & Best of Luck to You!

No.

Apple does NOT do any actual repairs or battery replacements for iPads.

To expedite fast customer service, Apple does in/out of warranty device replacements.

Since your actually damaged the battery because of the excessive heat from the iPad, causing this bend, this is actually device bend damage that has been caused by you!

Also, just a battery replacement doesn't fix your headphone jack issues and what may be causing your iPad crashing issues since this bend happened.

Your iPad Pro may have more internal damage!

AND, I am going to assume that 2017, 10.5 iPad Pro has no more AppleCare warranties any longer.

So, this means a very expensive, out-of-warranty iPad replacement, that costs approx. 60% of that iPad Pro’s original price!

You NEED to call Apple support per the links I originally supplied and tell what happened with that iPad Pro and tell them all the symptoms that followed and see what the support staff tells you.

At any rate, that iPad Pro needs replacing, no matter what.

It is not functioning properly, anyways.

Again, Sorry & Best of Luck to You!

Not sure where you are from, but in 2017, purchased, extended AppleCare+ is only for two years here in North America.

The first year of AppleCare+ overlaps the free, standard, one-year limited AppleCare warranty, as paid, extended AppleCare+ contains user damage coverage that the free, first year, limited warranty does not.

So here in Canada, U.S. and Mexico, that is a total of two years of warranty coverage.

Apple in 2019 has changed the paid, extended AppleCare+ warranty to the support life timeframe that Aple gives a device (4-6 years ) ONLY IF you agree to continue to make a small monthly payment all of that time.

So, paid extended AppleCare+ is like a monthly subscription warranty, now, for the support life of the device.

Unfortunately, this only applies to applies to new purchases made from 2019 onward.
