how to sync iphone photos to imac

When I take a new picture on my iPhone, it does not appear on my iMac. I thought it did it automatically, how can I get it show up?

Two things. Both the iMac and iPhone have to be signed into the same Apple ID.

Also, iCloud Photos has to be turned ON in the iPhone Settings/Photos.

iCloud Photos also has to be turned ON in the Photos app Photos/Preferences/iCloud.

The any photos you take with your iPhone should be sent to the Mac version of Photos. (And any photos you add to the Mac Photos from a camera would be sent the other way.)
