i bought an iMac (2019 27” 5k display I think it’s model a2115) with a cracked the screen. I want to replace the display and was wondering if the a1419 display was the same as there are a ton of those on eBay.

To be completely honest I was actually curious on the specs of the lcd display. I am actually making a custom monitor and want to make sure the a1419 display had the same specs as the a2115. I have been told by a friend who works for Apple that they are in fact the same panel, but that they may have different tab and connection sites. I have all the parts for the monitor now and hope to build it this weekend.
Again, we would not know as Apple does not publish part numbers. Have you considered taking the computer to an Apple Authorized Service Provider to have it repaired professionaly? Working on an iMac takes a large amount of skill and patience.
\I am also in California in the greater Sacramento area. All Apple stores are open as of this week. They include the Arden Mall and Galleria locations. If you are in S.Cal or the SF Bay Area, they are likely still closed. In addition there are independent Apple Authorized Service Providers that are likely available in your area if you are not in my area. At the very least they may be able to help you with the part numbers, think of them as a resource and it's wise to build a relationship with one as you never know when you may need their help.
Total build cost is about $800. Parts list is below. I also included a link to a YouTube video of someone who did the same thing. If you have any other questions please feel free to ask.

I actually used to work for Apple and have a few friends that still work there.
I had called Apple last week and they said they were still all closed and that they did not have plans to reopen as of yet so that is great information.
Apple is being very selective about where they are opening. Here is the article I saw about them opening some stores. Similar articles have come out about them opening stores in different parts of the world.

Did you ever get this sorted out? I am in the same predicament and was hoping swapping the A1419 was possible, even if it was just a matter of swapping the power and DisplayPort cables connected to the A1419 display assembly with the ones found on the a2115. Hope to hear back
Are the parts you are using to make this custom monitor plus your time (and opportunity costs) less than the $500 - 600 price tag of buying a replacement display assembly for the A2115? Can you itemize?
