My son wants to know if he can play roblox on an ipad mini 2 before webuy it for him?

An iPad mini 2 can ru iOS 12. Roblox needs iOS 8 to run. So yes you can.

I would just be wary that the iPad mini 2 is quite an old device, so may struggle with some game
