RAM upgrade option in 2020 model?

Does the option to upgrade your RAM without voiding your warranty apply to the 2020 model as well, as long as it is completed by an authorized Apple service provider? The help article on this doesn't cover 2020: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT205041. Also, is there a max RAM capacity?

The Mac mini 2020 is basically the same as the 2018 model, they just changed the base specs.

I would suspect whats true for the 2018 model also goes for the 2020 model. in that case:

"2018

Mac mini (2018) does not have user-installable RAM. You can configure the memory in your Mac mini (2018) when you purchase it. To upgrade the memory in your Mac mini (2018), go to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider."

So I would check with an apple store, or an AASP for options.

Good luck!

MyMac8MyPC: thank you--this is really really helpful to know. Yes, that's what I was after...I'm working within an imposed budget by my employer and to come in under budget it's either that I get the hard drive space I want and low ram, replacing it later/myself, or I get a smaller hard drive and spend the money to max out the ram. Dillemmas...

Get the smaller SSD, 16GB RAM, and by an external drive

for additional storage. You can get a small (500 GB range)

external SSD or for the same price usually up to 2 TB of

HDD storage. BTW, you should be adding the cost of an

external drive for backup anyway since anything can

happen and depending on a single device for your digital

data is an accident waiting to happen.
