Verizon upgrade charge

If I am purchasing my iPhone directly from Apple, why am I being charged a $40 Verizon upgrade charge?

Why when buying a phone direct from Apple am I being charged an upgrade fee for ATT? Before I buy my new phone from Apple (Iphone 14 series), I'd like to know why I am seeing a $30 upgrade fee on the purchase order form for upgrading at AT&T. I indicated I did not have a trade in because my phone is so old it is no longer eligible for trade in. I am a current AT&T customer.

fees I have just upgraded. .99 cents a month. I see that I ws charged $3.00. So is this for approx. 6 months? mavis

If you chose Verizon as your cellular provider, you'd have to ask Verizon why.
