what's SWHelper ?

Downloaded HP software directly from their site & after successfully downloading the software a small window pops up SWHelper wants to make changes & it asks for my password. I did NOT put my password in, I pressed cancel & did NOT follow through the installation.

If it is listed as AirPrint printer, delete the existing printer in

> System Preferences> Printers & Scanners, and add it again, select AirPrint.

They claim ask Apple that's it not part of HP, yet the links above everyone else encounters this issue too.

Those threads from the HP website are just hilarious!

Yes. Obviously SWHelper is (hopefully) part of HP. I mean, I went to staples.ca to see what a popular HP printer might be. Then I downloaded the driver for the HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer series. There is definitely a "SWHelper" executable in there. The executable is properly signed and notarized, at least on my machine. It sounds like it was pretty poorly executed, and the support is even worse, but it does appear to be legitimate.

There is always a possibility that you have downloaded and installed malware that also uses the file name "SWHelper", but that is extremely unlikely. This is what I mean about the poor execution. They didn't give much though to Apple's security requirements or the user experience. But it's safe.
