Help understanding Search in Music compared to iTunes

I normally keep all of my music in list form. If I search for a song, the Music app eliminates the list and shows me the song all by itself. The problem is, I cannot edit data about that song. I like it much better when I can when I find the song in the list.

With iTunes, when I put in my search terms it would reduce the big list down to items containing the words I am searching for. I found this most useful.

Is there another way of using Search that might make me happier?

THANKS!

Removing the "Filter Field" is a downgrade to me. It's beyond my comprehension why I cannot keep it there.

Overall, I like the new Music app. I appreciate it's devotion to music only.

I was impressed to discover I can still import CD,s and it will synchronize perfectly with my older iPod Classic's, (modified with solid-state drives) on my 2019 Mac Pro.

Thank you for your assistance. I will send a friendly request to Apple to make the "Filter Field" sticky.
