Be careful with your trade-in because they might scam you.

For such a big and supposedly helpful support, they basically just told me "oh well oops sorry we can't help you, byyeeeeee". I recently purchased an iPhone 11 with the option of trade-in for my iPhone X. I made sure the trade-in was in there and they even showed what would be the value of my phone after the trade-in. It was the only reason why I would go for an upgrade because with the trade-in, it's fairly affordable. So I got my iPhone 11 on May 18th and it's been a week now and I haven't gotten any news about the trade-in kit. I started to become worried because I feel like it's not gonna take that long until they send you a notification about the tracking info for the trade-in kit. I even contacted apple before purchasing the iPhone 11 just to make sure that I know how the process goes. When I talked to them about it via phone call, they legit told me that I didn't purchase it with a trade-in. Which I find BS because I purchased it myself. When I asked them what my options are they told me that I could send in my iPhone 11 and then do the same stuff all over again with the hope that it would work this time. I was like wouldn't that be such a big trouble on my side (setting up a new phone ain't fun if you had to do it just after a week). I was shaking my head at this point and asked if there are other options. He then suggested for me to go to the trade-in website and told me to request for a trade-in there and exchange it with an apple gift card (which they will transfer all that credit to my card). However, if I request a trade-in without a phone, the price will go from $320 to $230 which is a lot for a broke student like me. So I asked that's not fair and those two options are not really good ones. Their audacity to tell me that "oh well yeah sorry it's just one of those glitches I guess". They told me to go to apple store as well if I wanna resolve it better. That will be an option if there's not an effing pandemic going on. Cool yeah so be careful with your purchase with a trade-in and you might have to go through the same thing I did. But if this happens to you, you're better selling your device on eBay. You get the right value of your phone there. TRADE-IN is a scam, at least in my situation.

Yes I am selling it by myself on eBay. I'm not asking a lot of money for my iPhone, I just wanted to get the original trade-in value that I agreed with on the website while I was purchasing my new phone. I just wished they handled the situation better since yeah I do have a lot of options. Because it's not my fault if there was a glitch in their system and I only had those two options to fix the problem. Why couldn't they just send me the trade-in kit like the original plan. Why do I have to send my phone all over again. Yeah millions of people have successfully done this no problem. But how about the ones that didn't (like me??). It's our fault now that apple didn't put the trade-in in the systems and there was a glitch? Going to the apple store is an option as well but with what's happening right now, it's not. But I appreciate your suggestion regarding getting more money for my phone. Thank you so much.

Warning us of what? Millions of people have traded in their iPhone and not had a problem. But this situation might save you some money. Apple partners with Brightstar on the trade in program and Brightstar doesn't pay a lot for trade-ins. Find another trade in company that pays more or sell it yourself after following this What to do before you sell, give away, or trade in your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support and you should get around $100 more for your iPhone X.
