Why does my apple watch stop playing music from spotify when not close to iphone? I have cellular connected and signed up. Please advise

The Spotify app doesn’t work without the phone. It’s basically a remote to control the phone app. I know Apple Music can work without the iPhone, you could try that.
Perhaps Spotify will update their app in the future.
