Broken headphone jack 3.5mm

I used a 3.5mm headphone aux cable without noticing the very end of the cable was bent. When I then put my headphones in, sound only comes from one side. I know it is the computer jack because I tested the headphones on other devices and they work perfect. I've thrown that cable away!

I don't want to send my iMac away for repair so my question is, does anyone know if I can bypass the 3.5mm headphone jack with a USB adapter?

Thank you.

iMac 27″, macOS 10.13

Yes.. In your "System Preferences" --> "Sound" --> "Output" tab

You can select which device for the sound.

There are also few options --

a. USB adapter of your need (if you want to go big for 5.1) or just plain "earphone and mic"

b. USB earphone (usually made for gamers with mic build-in) - by plug into USB port
