How to Update Mac OS

My daughter has a MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inc, Mid 2015) and it is running OS X El Capitan, version 10.11.6. It does not show any new updates. Shouldn't she be running a more current OS?

Back up the data, check the applications for compatibility, and download Catalina.
