When signing into my Apple ID, iCloud Mail or Apple Groups I get a message saying that I am logging from a browser that is located hundreds of miles from where my computer is. I checked my location in Apple Maps and it shows correctly. I also downloaded and updated all upgrades that were available for macOS Mojave 10.14.6 and rebooted my computer twice - problem still exists. My local Apple Store said to allow this and there will be no security breeches.

This posting was previously reported in the Apple Groups by a number of users, but I couldn't find any solutions. There must a solution/fix for this. Can anyone assist?

Note: Until earlier this week this has never happened on my computer.

The only thing the web site has is your IP address. nn.nn.nn.nn

There are services that try to guess the general location of an IP address. Sometimes they get it right, sometimes they get it wrong.

And your ISP can change the IP address assigned to your home. This can happen anytime, but generally it happens when your WiFi router is power cycled.

So a few months ago the IP address location guess was good, then a power failure happens, you get a new IP address, and the guess is wrong.

Also if you use a VPN service, it will look like you are at the VPN server location.

Even iPhones, that have GPS have the issue, because the GPS information is not sent to the web site, so still guessing based on IP address.
