Purchase another new MacBook Pro.

iPads and iPadOS are STILL NOT a full Mac with macOS.

iPads, ANY iPads are not full MacBook/laptop replacements and are still, mostly, companion Apple mobile devices to a full Mac.

MS Office apps on iOS are lesser versions of the macOS versions.

Any Mac with macOS is more powerful than any iPad with iPadOS.

If you can afford it, purchase both a MacBook Pro and an iPad Pro OR even consider the 2019 iPad Air 3 as a good compromise to an iPad Pro, UNLESS, you are considering Apple’s new Magic Keyboard case for the 2018/2020 iPad Pro models.

Best of Luck to You!

If you do a lot of Microsoft Office support on your computer for your company, chances are you are going to need FULL versions of them and you will not get that on an iPad. You can still get them on your iPad, however, you will need to make sure that you have Office 365 subscription or you will need to pay additional for them on the iPad.

Personally I would still go with a new MacBook as you know for sure this is going to give you what you need for support for those applications and other things that you need to do. If you don’t you may find that there is some limitations you won’t be able to do with the iPad and you may be disappointed with it down the road. Do your research, make sure it is going to be able to do everything you need before you completely make that switch.

iPad's run a completely different operating system than MacBook's. If your are looking for an experienced based more on internet, writing papers, and a simple solution, the iPad is where I would recommend you go. If you are looking for a more customizable system for FILES and files management, a MacBook is where I would go. If your going to be downloading and writing lots of Microsoft Excel things, I would recommend a MacBook.

Hello,

I personally have transitioned from using a Macintosh to using an iPad Pro and I love it. An iPad has the ability to use Microsoft Excel and Outlook. You can also use PowerPoint on iPad while also connecting iPad to a projector or TV to give a presentation. iPad Pro now also supports USB storage devices which would allow you to interchange files between traditional computers.

With the question if an iPad can do everything a MacBook can, not exactly. While iPad’s hardware is very advanced, its software still leaves some to be desired. With time more and more professional applications will come to iPad along with newer features in future iPadOS updates.
