Importing procreate psd file into Final Cut Pro X - colors are wrong

I’m exporting layered psd files from Procreate to import into Final Cut Pro X. I’ll be adding motion like a parallax effect to still images. FCPX imports the psd file made in procreate and the layers are visible, but the color is severely broken. Preview in Mac shows the correct color for the same psd file, but as soon as it is imported into FCPX the color goes very wrong. It’s not a subtle thing at all. I’ve reached out to Procreate. Any ideas or people experiencing the same problem?

I made a new simple 3 layer test file in procreate and was able to recreate the issue. I exported the scene from procreate to psd fileand loaded into FCPX. The color was way off. I loaded that same psd file into pixelmator and color looked good. Then I exported a new psd file from pixelmator and loaded into FCPX. Color still looked good.

I tried your files and had the same results as you.

All the files display identically in Quicklook, in Pixelmator Pro and Preview.

The file from Procreate can be reexported out of Pixelmator Pro and that works for me too.

The Inspector identifies each image's color profile as "Display P3", but one works and the other doesn't... mystery.

At least there is a workaround, for now.

Here is something you could try: open the psd file in Pixelmator and then resave as new file, also in psd format. Does that new file show the same problem?

Also, would it be possible to post screenshots showing the color issue? Better yet, could you post one file that has the problem somewhere so we can download?

I'm using a 2018 iPadPro for Procreate. I'm using a 2019 iMac for Final Cut Pro X. The iMac's display settings are set to default for color and resolution.

I just tested this same scenario using Pixelmator and didn't have any issues.

What Mac? What display settings are you using? It should be the default for ColorSync.

I don't think Procreate gives you the option whenever you export to PSD, but I opened the same exported file in Pixelmator and it is RGB with 8 bits per channel.
