iPad Disabled Connect to iTunes

Hello - I'm trying to activate an old iPad Air 2. It says disabled and prompts me to connect to iTunes. on My iMac I'm currently running Catalina 10.15.4 and from what I've gathered downloading iTunes is not an option. I am able to see the iPad once connected in my finder, which asks me if I want to "trust" it in order to sync. The irony is it requires me to tap "trust" on the iPad but alas, it's disabled... Any and all help is appreciated in advance.
