I had to download the compass app on Apple Watch Series 5 because I had previously removed it from my iPhone 11 & it was not present on the watch. When I reloaded the compass app on my phone, the app also reloaded on my watch, but it does not function. What do I need to do to correct this? Will I need to reset watch?

The first (and simplest) thing to try if something isn’t working right is to restart your Apple Watch and its paired iPhone. If necessary (device not responding), try a forced restart. Both methods can be found here:

If that doesn't help, the next steps would be to unpair and pair your watch again and restore from the backup:
