Apple Watch 5 Facebook Messenger

So I recently purchased an apple 5 watch . I’ve uploaded all my apps. Facebook messenger is giving me issues though . When I open the app from my watch it says Log in from paired iPhone . I’m logged in on my I phone and on my Apple Watch app. When someone messages me on the app and my phone is locked I receive it on my watch But when I got to reply it’s says log in from paired iPhone . When I try to browse my messages through the watch it doesn’t allow me. It just reads log in from the paired iPhone . I’ve uninstalled the app from my watch , from my phone . Reinstalled both, restarted both, toggled blue tooth on and off , there both up to date . Is there anything else I can do ? Have I missed something ? Thank you

I was having this problem too and it randomly started today (May 31st). I even contacted apple support (they couldn't help because it's a third party app). Here's how I fixed it:

Make sure your watch and your phone are up to date.
Delete the app from the watch (on the watch itself and not through the app on your phone).
Delete the app from your phone.
Make sure automatic app install is off in the watch app.
Re-download the app on your phone.
Re-download the app on your watch (through the app store on the watch itself and not through your phone).
With the messenger app open on your watch (and displaying the "log in from paired iPhone" message), open the app on your phone and sign in. I got a little spinning wheel on my watch and then I was logged in on both.

I am have the same issue also. I have reset and still nothing. Today makes a week that I have switched to an iPhone from android. This issue started yesterday. So frustrating, even the employees at T-Mobile were puzzled.

1) Uninstall messenger on iphone

2) Open messenger on Apple Watch, Should Say Login From Paired iPhone

4) Reinstall on Messenger on Iphone while watch Messgenger is open.

5) Login and Accept prompt on Watch to receive Notifications.

Uninstall Facebook altogether.

Uninstall Messengerit from you watch and phone.

Install on watch and open app until prompted to login. Try to keep the watch awake

Install messenger on iPhone again and login. As you login you should then be prompted to allow notifications from your watch and phone. Accept both and you should be in.

This happened to me too and I removed the app from my phone and my watch and installed it again and it worked until my messenger asked me to update phone number and my watched unpaired again. They added it where the settings is it says mobile number. I think it has something to do with the new update on messenger.

What I have found is that you delete the app on both devices then install on watch first ( this automatically installs on iPhone ) then open watch app - accept notifications then open messenger on Phone once signed in it will work.

However once you close the app on the phone you will then go back to being “broken”. As long as you keep the app open on your iPhone the app will work fine on your watch.

I logged out of Facebook on my phone.. didn’t log back in... uninstalled app on both watch and phone.. downloaded on watch then phone.. was able to use Messenger app on watch successfully for a whole day before they asked for me to log in again with phone number!! So frustrating!!

I, for some reason, was assuming it was like texting. That I was able to open up messenger on my watch. Not the case.

Very happy to know there is nothing wrong with my watch. Too bad Apple support couldn’t tell me that I’m the first place. I spent hours research ways to fix it.

I guess the main point is that Login should happen after watch app is installed. If Messenger login (on iPhone) happens prior, it won't work.

This is a Facebook app and everyone should be contacting them as they are the app developers.
