Time Capsule Generation
How do I know what generation my Time Capsule is?
Open AirPort Utility on your Mac (Finder > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility)
Hold down the option key on your Mac while you double-click on the picture of the Time Capsule
Check the Model listing
If your Time Capsule is "flat" and looks like a small white pizza box, you have a Gen 1, Gen 2, Gen 3 or Gen 4 product.
If your Time Capsule looks like a "tower", you have the 802.11ac version. Apple did not assign a Gen designation to this product, but users informally and often call this model a 5th Gen Time Capsule.
