LaCie 2big Dock Thunderbolt™ 3 better use with APFS or JHFS+ ?

Hello guys, just seeking an advice if anyone have experience: Is it ok to use APFS with 2big Dock Thunderbolt™ 3 in RAID1?

In documentation provided from LaCie is basically JHFS+ mentioned only.

Is that because APFS is not expected to work? Or is not recommended? Are there any performance drawbacks?

I know sometimes APFS is not recommended with classic rotating hard drives which might work perform better on JHFS+ Is that the case with LaCie 2big Dock Thunderbolt™ 3 as well?

If it uses rotational drives, HDDs, and not SSDs, then they should be formatted Mac OS Extended, Journaled. If it contains SSDs, then format using APFS but don't use for RAIDs or Time Machine.
