Cannot Connect to App Store

i have an old iPad 2 which will not update past iOS 10.4.2. It now will not connect to the App Store. It was trying unsuccessfully to update some apps. Is it just too old for App Store? Is there a way to install apps using iTunes free m a PC?

Thanks! I suspected that was the problem. It still updates apps from iCloud so I might be able to use my newer iPad to get apps and have them download to the old iPad that can't get past iOS10. And the Kindle App still works so that's what I mainly use it for. The app for United Airlines keeps trying unsuccessfully to update so I deleted it. I'm hoping that won't delete it from my new iPad or iPhone. Thanks for the straight answer. It is nice to have a spare iPad that I don't have to worry about forgetting somewhere or having it stolen so my new one can stay home and be safe.
