When I move mail from the junk folder to the inbox the message goes to lala land and I can't find it

Safe Boot from the HD, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode?

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Your Account>Mailbox Behaviors, what path is Trash Mailbox set to And all the other paths??

Are you using any Mail Rules?

OK, & searching in Mail finds nothing???

If you log into WebMail in a Browser are the eMails there?

What is your inbox sorted on?
