Please help, No disk drive???

So suddenly our Mac one day switched off and had the “?”. I followed instructions, erased etc etc and then wouldn’t switch on at all. Having another attempt at it tonight but I have no idea what I’m doing!! I’ve managed to do “cmd” + R on startup and it worked turned on, spoke to me, everything’s going great. However I’m sure there’s something wrong on this screen as it doesn’t show my hard drive? Trying to reinstall Maverick but it’s asking me to “select a disk where you want to install OS X” but nothing appears for me to select. Please help and explain to me in simple terms what to do or do I just need to send it off to be repaired?

MacBook Air 11″, macOS 10.14

The internal drive is either dead or not connected properly. Either of these requires a hardware repair.
