Cannot Play MIDI Files in QuickTime.app (macOS 10.15.5)

When I try to play a MIDI file, I get an error message: "The file isn’t compatible with QuickTime Player." I know I used to be able to play them in QuickTime, so I am puzzled by this. I can play them in GarageBand and VLC. TIA Emily

Apple doesn't care - fine. But macOS 13 should be able to play an AV1 file with onboard solution. IINA plays the file, but was surprised to find QuickTimePlayer durping on this.

MIDI files have been abandoned by QuickTime X and you'll need another player to listen to them.
