Audio streaming cutting out On iPhone

This question has been asked some years ago without a reasonable answer so I thought I’d try again since streaming music on my iPhone through my hearing aids is so important to me. Again this is streaming music, not listening to Apple Music or anything in my library. Just streaming. It has just started happening this week. It has been perfect up til now. I don’t think it’s the apps that are causing it because it happens on different apps.

I’ve tried Resetting Network Settings and going to Settings>WiFi>Forget This Network and rejoining...I’ve also tried streaming straight from the different stations’ URLs and of course rebooting our whole system. All to no avail. Help, anyone!

If the app is providing audio then there should not be a problem.

There are several issues that may be upsetting your streaming;

  1. Is the hearing aids connected to multiple iDevices, if yes try switching off the Bluetooth on the device you are not using
  2. Are you out of range, for example is the iDevice in a separate room?
  3. Try using a 5GHz wifi network, there has been mentions that 2.4GHz wifi may cause interferes the streaming between the iDevice and the hearing aids
  4. Oddly and strange one in my experience, when streaming outdoors, I find that the wind interferes (yeah very strange!)

I have the same problem. Seems to have suddenly started after iOS update 13.5.1

The strange part for me is that the Hearing Aids are connected fine as I can take phone or even MS Teams calls but not media streaming. I have gone into settings and confirmed that media streaming is set to always for the hearing aids and I have turned that off and on to no avail.

Also the iPhone is clearly connecting to the hearing aid as it turns off the hearing aids microphones so the room is not amplified. This is normal when media streaming. It's just somehow not sending sound through. Unless it is MS Teams or Phone. For media streaming I have tried the Apple Music app and CBC Listen.

The really annoying thing is if your not careful it can seem like your hearing aids are entirely broken since this cuts the sound pick ups and puts no sound through. Kind of acts like the battery is dead except if you check your Resound app the batteries are ok.

Tried resetting the iPhone, no luck.

Using Resound Forte 861-DRW hearing aids from Costco.

Thanks to both of you for your responses. A couple of days ago my TV Adapter stopped working and I called the hearing aid manufacturing customer support line. They helped me re-pair the HAs to the Adapter. Which made me think maybe there’s been a software upgrade to the HAs (never a notification when that happens.) I thought I’d re-pair the HAs to my phone and see if that helped. I think it has somewhat.

Gaillen, I don’t think it’s the software upgrade because my aids were cutting out on an old Apple iOS...I hadn’t upgraded to 13.5.1 yet.

I’ve also found I have better luck when I’m on cellular rather than WiFi...I have no idea why.

I have Oticon OPNs with disposable batteries...and an iPhone 11Pro.

The best part about hearing aids is being able to stream music...makes my day!!!

I'm having this issue as well with my Resound Linx 3D... really it's been bad since iOS 13 came out, but 13.5.1 made it 100x worse. Now my hearing aids will just cut out in the middle of a call. When I press home 3 times it just says "unavailable for current route". And I can't get them to pair again until I restart my phone, and my hearing aids (both have to happen). And sometimes the hearing aids just randomly start switching modes which I don't get. Forgetting them and re-pairing seems to help, but it's temporary.

This all honestly blows me away. iOS is notorious for bugs in general, but as a hearing impaired person I rely on this to work. I can't be in the middle of a work call and suddenly the audio cuts out (and when this happens it doesn't switch to speaker or anything, there's just no audio... it's like it thinks the audio is going somewhere but it's not).
