iMac Late 2012 27 inch Etresoft Report
Hi team, here is my latest report pulled today. I was hoping to get support. This iMac runs a bit slow and was hoping to get pointers on anything that I can do now to help with the performance. Thanks so much.

2 major issues, #1 no backup on this computer! This is a 100% guarantee you will loose data. Get a good quality External Hard Disk such as a OWC Mercury Elite Pro and begin using Time Machine ASAP!!!!!
#2 the computer is RAM starved, upgrade and add an additional 16 GB of RAM for a total of 24 GB. Use either crucial.com or macsales.com RAM.

I don't see any of the usual suspects in the report. However, you could benefit by increasing the RAM to either 16 GB or 24 GB depending on the budget.
However that will not speedup the boot time or application launch, document open or save time. Those features are controlled by your hard drive and it is what it is.
You can help things along by removing all items from the User Login Items preference pane and open apps only when you need them and close when finished. Don't let any run in the background all the time
You can install the RAM, it takes 5 minutes without any tools. Please watch the video in https://eshop.macsales.com/installvideos/memory-imac27late2013/iMac13-2/
The external HD I would recommend is https://eshop.macsales.com/item/OWC/ME3QH7T2.0/
and the RAM to buy would be:
https://eshop.macsales.com/shop/memory/iMac/Retina-5K/DDR3L get 2 x 8GB DIMMs and install in the 2 empty slots.
Adding RAM to a 27" iMac is easy. Here is a how-to install video

(that is also one of the two recommended vendors for RAM)
Thanks for responding so promptly! Will get that external hard disk. Thanks a bunch for reviewing this report.
Are there any reputable national IT companies that you know of that does this service? I guess I can yelp this type of service to install RAM. Thanks for the sites where you can purchase :) Appreciate this loads.
If anyone else has further insights, feel free to respond. TY!
Thank you for the pointers. Yeah at this point it is what it is and pretty impressive machine for being 8 years old. It even was able to upgrade to Catalina.
Thank you. I am surprised how easy it is to install RAM! I am such a noob.
