My 2015 MacBook Pro has been stuck on this screen for about an hour. It’s late here so I’ll see what happens in the morning. But it has NEVER taken this long before. It seems frozen.

Give it another hour, and if it is still frozen then just switch it off and restart.
if you are downloading updates from Apple it is always best to use a cabled
connection to your router. If you can't place your mac as close to your
router as possible, and don't use any other devices that share the same internet

To date, I have only installed on Late 2012 iMac. Not yet on 2018 Retina MacBook Air .
iMac took about 45 minutes from start to finish with about 7 reboots during the installation. There were a few time I thought the install froze but gave it all the time it wanted and eventually installed successfully.

Guys, succesfully installed the OS 10.15.5, it took at least 30-45 mins on my Macbook Retina.
Screen flickered few times while installing and that should be normal.
Didn't encountered problem while installing and after that too.
Mine was stuck too, I did however restarting my laptop by holding down the power button. When I turned it back on it installed Catalina. No problem.
I have the same issue with my MacBook Pro 13" mid 2014. No issue with my 2019 iMac.
I have the same problem with my late 2013 iMac. Have restarted a couple of times now
So restarting doesn't work? 😖
What I learnt is that the download might take hours to complete. How is the progress now? Still the same? I am about to run this update over here in Malaysia time 7pm GMT +8.

Update, it’s been stuck for almost 11 hours. I’ve always avoided restarting during an update due to fears it could brick my system. It does not have an Ethernet port, nor do I have an adapter.
Update #2, it’s been stuck for 22 hours. Is it really safe to restart my laptop while it’s in the state? I don’t want to break my laptop. Any help would be appreciated.
