format external harddrive in order to make backup

Hi, In order to download a newer IOS software i needed to make a back up, I have a hard drive here but needed to format it. When doing that I followed the steps here on the website but I cannot click the "particion" button. Someone else had and posted about this issue but even the answer on that did not work out for me. Any ideas?
