Apple ID Password App Verification Failed?

A prompt keeps coming up telling me to re-enter my Apple ID password. I did several times. The picture shows what it is doing. I literally have no app open! I restarted my phone AND changed my password. Still doing it!

Can't enter my password for Apple ID When I try to sign in with my Apple ID my phone gives the error message "Verification Failed" with "The application you have selected does not exist." Whether I type in the correct or incorrect password. I know that I'm typing in the password correctly because I still have the option to reset my password and even the new one doesn't fix the issue.

Apple ID password verification failed My iPhone and iPad keep asking me to re-enter my Apple ID password which I know is correct. When I re-enter it a get a notification that the verification failed and in smaller print it says this application does not exist. I do not even know what that means. I even CHANGED my password TWICE to make sure it was correct. It still did not work. I turned off my WIFI and only used my cellular data and it still didn’t work. Can someone please explain what I should do other than change my password and use cellular data. Is this a problem that happens frequently?

There is an issue at Apple's end. Do not make changes to your device.

I thought that, too. Turns out that my phone, for some reason, didn’t automatically update like it always does. I updated it and the problem has gone away...hopefully.
