I sold my iPhone 3G and I forgot to remove the sim card. Is there anything to worry about? I reset the phone once I got my iPhone 4.

No, the SIM would have been deactivated upon activating your iPhone 4.
Does being deactivated mean that the new owner cannot get anything off the card?
The iPhone doesn't store anything except caller and carrier information on the SIM card, nor would the SIM card be able to store much. Since the SIM has been deactivated, it is essentially a blank card.
