Unable to reply from Apple Watch on Whatsapp messages

I recently purchased an apple watch series 5 - GPS. I have turned on notifications for whatsapp on my watch. I do receive notifications, but when i reply to the message from my watch, it does not get delivered to other person.

You have to reply to the messages on your phone,whatsapp doesn't have a watch app.
