Why is PerfPowerServices using my microphone?

I use the app OverSight and twice now it has pinged me that the /usr/libexec/PerfPowerServices process has made my microphone active. I don't see what having my microphone on has to do with power performance and this seems really sketchy.

Anyone have any idea what's going on?
