As per this support article (at the bottom), if you get that alert and you do not have any accessory connected, contact Apple Support, clicking on the link provided there:--> If you see an ‘Accessory may not be supported’ alert - Apple Support

Are you using an attached Smart Folio Keyboard accessory with your iPad? If so, this is early warning of the connections that run through the folding hinge becoming unreliable prior to failure.


If you don’t have a Smart Folio Keyboard, are you using any other external external accessories - via either a Lightning or USB-C port? Depending upon your iPad model, you’ll have one or other of these two connectors.
