Does anyone knows how to retrieve text messages (from January
2020 on an iphone8) if you have lost your phone?

The only possible way to do that, and it would be an extreme long shot, is if you still have backup from that date, and if you restore that backup to another iOS device, which would also overwrite the current contents of the device.
