With technology and the speed of the wifi at home these days through cable why cant we do backups through iTunes without using a cable connection?

Is there a way of connecting to iTunes through an iPhone Xs without a cable connection to do backups? This will avoid continual issues with connection problems on the phone. In-turn not being able to do a backup to a PC. IF there is no way then this must change. What are your opinions?

Connect the phone with the cable. If you have Mac OS Catalina open Finder and click on the phone. For any other Mac version or Windows open iTunes and click on the iPhone icon. Click the checkbox next to Show this iPhone when on Wi-Fi. Once you have done that the phone should stay connected to iTunes over Wi-Fi. This feature has been supported for about 10 years, BTW.
