Register new phone number

I changed my phone number, how do I deregister the phone number I have connected to my account if I don’t have that number anymore?

You need to change the number on your Apple ID. After the change, allow up to 24 hours for the change to sync. Before trying to make the change, sign out of Messages/FaceTime.

That’s what I’m trying to do but it won’t let me delete my old number without sending a code to that number to deregister. But I don’t have that number anymore.

Did you add the new number before trying to remove the old number? Sign out of Messages/FaceTime?
