Can I locate my lost offline AirPods?

I just used my AirPods2 a few days ago and now I can't find them (they were fully charged). I've successfully used the Find My app to locate them a couple times in the past but it's not working this time. It shows they're offline and it won't even show me their last location, why?

Is there anyway to locate them with the serial numbers?

If someone else has them is there anyway to turn them off - or maybe make them self destruct..lol
