Tap the same icon that you tapped to turn it on.

You're looking for an icon like the one shown below:

The repeat function has four settings, but depending on your model of iPod, the "on" effect may not be too obvious until you go thorough each mode, because different generations have different displays. The four modes are:

    • Off - Repeat is off. When the current list of songs finish, the player will stop
    • Repeat - Repeat is on. When the current list finishes, the player will play the same list again
    • Repeat 1 - In Repeat 1 mode, the same song will play over and over until you stop the player, or turn off Repeat 1, or manually select a different song
    • Off

Once the small 1 appears in the arrows, you know the iPod is in Repeat 1 mode, so the next tap on the repeat button will turn repeat off. As I am not familiar enough with display of the Now Playing screen on your model, you will have to look for the icon. It will be there, somewhere:

  • On a 2nd generation Touch (for example), the Now Playing screen can be swapped for more detail about the album. Tapping the screen again will swap the view back again
  • On some mid-aged models, the Repeat icon will be on the main Now Playing screen and obvious
  • On later models (such as the 6th generation iPod Touch shown below), you need to drag the Now Playing screen upwards in order to reveal the additional controls. The screenshot below shows the Now Playing screen once it has been dragged up, to reveal the Shuffle and Repeat buttons:

  • both the Shuffle and the Repeat buttons (on this generation) change colour when turned on
  • a white button, with red text means the function is off
  • a red button, with white text means the function is on
  • so in the left picture, Shuffle is on, while Repeat is off
  • in the middle picture both Shuffle and Repeat are on
  • in the right picture, Shuffle is on and Repeat 1 is on. Notice the small 1 in the arrows of the Repeat button. This tells you it's in repeat 1 mode
