Using IMac as the display for Mac mini

Can I use my IMac with Catalina installed as a display for a Mac mini? Or do I need an earlier version?

If your iMac is not newer than mid 2014 it should work as a display if you install High Sierra. Download it by going to the App store

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/macos-high-sierra/id1246284741

and click the blue Get button (Top-Right) to download it to your Applications folder, but don't run it. It won't run under Catalina.

Create a bootable installer using the downloaded installer

then install it from the USB drive.

Thank you very much. I have Catalina installed. Your reference refers to the IMac having Sierra or earlier to work. Do I re-install Sierra? How do I do that? Or is there a “work-around”? Again thanks for your help for a novice.
