But if you both use the same AppleID then you’re both using the exact same accounts for all Apple services (iCloud, FaceTime, iMessage, etc -> Where can I use my Apple ID? - Apple Support) and thus share access to everything associated with those Apple service accounts.

Yes if the two of you share the same Apple ID or know of the Apple ID and password of the other and use it on a different device.
