iPad Air (3rd) Generation Apple Pencil NOT Connecting

I just replaced my 10.5" iPad Pro with iPad Air (3rd Generation). Im unable to connect my 1st generation Apple Pencil with the Air. I contacted Apple support. They replaced my NEW iPad Air with a replacement Air. Im not able to connect my pencil with this replaced iPad Air either. My pencil connects and works with my wife's 12.9" iPad Pro. My Pencil connects and works with my daughter's 9.7". iPad Pro. My daughters 1ST Generation Apple Pencil WILL NOT connect with either of the iPad Air's I had.

Pencil is fully charged and Ive tried all the support recommendations without success.

Is there a problem out there with iPad Air's and Apple Pencils that is hidden from customers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

As it turned out, my Apple Pencil fit like it was supposed to into the port on the iPad Air (Gen 3) but the port was faulty, apparently. The folks at JB Hi-Fi in Ballarat, VIC, were very helpful in troubleshooting. I ended up having to exchange my new iPad Air for another one. My Apple Pencil paired perfectly with the new iPad Air. I'm really enjoying doodling with my new Apple Pencil and iPad Air!

Make sure you have your iPad charged to 100% and immediately connect the pencil to the lightning port and leave it there for 15 minutes. After that if you haven’t had anything happen at that point, remove it and plug it back in and see if works then. If it doesn’t work after this, I would suggest you get a hold of Apple and let them know what you have going on.
