i’ve had my airpods for nearly a year, the sound on them has gone quiet and the right one is significantly quieter than the left, i clean them regularly and nothing fixes it

Low volume is a symptom of needing to be cleaned. You might try again:
How to clean your AirPods and EarPods
If no help, try this:
Go to Settings > Accessibility > Audio/Visual and scroll down to “Balance L vs R” (Adjust the audio volume balance) and make changes.
