I am using 9.2.1 (although this problem started with iTunes 9.2 sometime) and iTunes keeps asking me to verify my payment information whether I am using my iPhone, iPad or my iMac. I verify and the transaction goes ahead. It does not matter whether it is a free update for an App on my iPad or iPhone or purchasing music or a TV Show on my iMac. The error message is that a transaction has taken place on a new device or computer and that it needs to verify my payment information.
The verification lists my card data and address etc. correctly but I need to keep entering the card security number.
Support keep telling me to delete and re-enter my car info which does not help. Anyone else seen this issue?
Seems to be something to do with a new security check they have put in the system that does not work correctly and support is totally incapable of helping me out.

Just got the following answer from iTunes Store Support (after more than 5 days):
"Apple is currently working toward a resolution for the issue you have reported. You will receive an email after the matter has been investigated and further information is available."
I am having the same problems I can't update and I've used two different credit cards and it keeps asking for my security code and I keep entering it all correctly, nobody can answer this problem not even the techs at apple .
This is exactly happening to me I'm being charged like crazy amounts of money man some times 49.99 Canadian dollars some 39.99 and 69.99 all at same time and I do not have one app on my iPhone that I've paid for everyone is free I don't buy games and stuff like that I've only started having Gia prob last few month and now it's becoming and issues I'm starting to go broke over tthis bothering me so much I'm ready to sell my iPhone and go to an android I've always had an iPhone love it I can't update any apps cuz I have to have money on my bank card that is on my phone info I'm also on phone few times a week with apple arguing with them about same this every phone and trying to get my money back diff amounts every time and always charges me three times each price so if there are three diff prices that's 9 diff charges of same price I'm sick of this apple plz fix soon before no one has to goto court or lawsuits don't happen thanks everyone if no what I can do to stop this plz let me. i am having the same issue, please someone help us out here. I have had several apple accounts and own several apple devices and all of a sudden i can no longer update or even download FREE apps, every time i try to i am constantly getting the message to update payment information and BOTH of my credit & debit cards that i have benn using for YEARS now are all of a sudden being declined.... Which makes no sense whatsoever because i am not even trying to "Purchase" anything, i am trying to update apps and download a new FREE app that i came across.
Even I am facing the same exact problem. I was about to call up the Apple support. I am trying o update/install some free apps but itunes is still asking me to enter my billing info.
Why does Apple need my billing info even for free stuffs? Is this yet another bug from Apple???
Here's another "Same Here" post. Every time I try and update an app on ANY of my devices, I have to go through the process of re-entering my debit card's CVN. This is becoming quite an annoyance. The explanation is always "This account has been accessed by a new device," when it has not.
This verification places a temporary $1.00 hold on my checking account EACH TIME. Please help!
Same problem for me. Mine and my sister's ip4 keep saying this. But when I fill out my security code it doesn't download my updates. So I go back to the AppStore and do it all over again. I hope it's not charging $1 every time. I have no money in that account lol.
I also have the same problem. I don't even bother filling out my card security code, just click confirm, then I can download the updates, but it's a pain in the you-know-what.
I've been jumping through the hoops with Apple Support on this issue....first time I called they said I should try updating from IOS 4.0 to 4.1....tried that and the issue still persisted...then I called back to update the ticket and get the next steps...they said that the Bank is rejecting the request for verification and that is why it keeps prompting (which doesn't make sense since the confirmation seems to go through successfully). The rep also contacted the iTunes dept and had them run the verify manually and said the bank rejected it. The next hoop they want me to jump through is calling the bank to verify that the account is in good standing and inquire about the rejected requests. I'm fairly certain the bank account is in good standing....will verify of course....but I find it hard to believe that all the people who have posted here, plus countless others that are experiencing the same issue but haven't, are ALL having banking issues in the last 24hrs...I'm more convinced there is a disconnect on the back end between iTunes and Financial institutions...
I'm not sure I buy in to everything I was told...he also told me he has had several calls on this issue and they were all told to check with their banks. He could not verify that any of his past calls were resolved. Needless to say I'm not 100% believing everything he told me....weak response from Apple support on this issue so far.
